KISH COASTLINE REVITALIZATION

Tourism has been rapidly growing sector and a wide-sweeping socioeconomic phenomenon with broad economic, social, cultural and environmental consequences. It is likely that tourism will continue to dominate the international scene for many years to come. Environmental protection has become a major issue in the recent years. As a result of environmental consciousness, a great number of alternative forms of tourism have been developed in the last decade. Various names are utilized to demonstrate the typologies of the environmentally tourist. ‘Green’, ‘soft’, ‘eco’, ‘sustainable’, ‘responsible’, or ‘alternative’ tourism, are some of the terms for to describe the new tourist. This new trend, prefer the places which are not destroyed by the “mass of tourists”. Sustainable environment requires sustainable design. Design proposal demonstrates diverse strategies for capturing the value of the waterfront through creating view and access corridors for existing streets and building forms and provides public access to the sea and enjoyment of the waterfront. Mapping vehicle accesses and pedestrian access in the site, lack of connectivity was apparent in each sector. neither of main streets and pedestrian paths are connected with the sea. The design proposal tries to give new accentuated identity to the streets ending to the sea while creating and maintaining view and access corridors. For pedestrians we came up with three different paths alongside the beach that are interconnected and provide numerous accesses to the sea. A network capable to enhance accessibility towards the seaside, rather than parallel, meaning that all roads will be designed or modified/accentuated to run from the city towards the seaside rather than parallel to it. A road running parallel to the seaside may reinforce the physical and mental separation between the city and the seaside. Our proposal will highlight the view and access corridors through a set of strategies including: planting and light facilities along the existing streets, to highlight the border of each street and define a clearer silhouette for each street, locating a Node and activity hub at the end of each street defining a great destination for users and each street and giving more pedestrian access at the end of each street as a medium to reconnect the city back to the sea. Here, we defined our nodes and activity hubs alongside the sea line. Next, based on different activities and proposed program, all circles were allocated different area based on the programmed activity. Then a network of paths and landscapes interwoven all hubs resulting a network of interconnected hubs and landscapes.
